The Czech toy designer, Libuše Niklová abandoned wood for plastic during the 1960s. She exploited its innovations which had already been applied to inflatable furniture. In this way she overturned the traditional universe of the child by its toys and water toys, animals, boats, clowns, fairy tale characters in soft or inflatable plastic, coloured and whimsical, all brought together in the exhibition “Plastique Ludique : Libuše Niklová” at the Musée des Arts décoratifs (2010).
