Rei Kawakubo, who established Comme des Garçons in 1973, presented her first collection in Paris in 1981. This creation illustrates her interest in textile and deconstruction as well as her work in redefining femininity. The jersey cloth used, similar to that of simple T-Shirts, is cut with a raw edge, sewn diagonally or lacerated to create a slightly asymmetrical and soft effect that communicates a vision of women without formal artifice.
