Like many artists of his period, Thomas l’Aîné produced interior decoration models that were engraved and widely disseminated. His Livre de divers dessins d’ornements (Book of Various Drawings of Ornaments) includes elevations and decorative details very similar to those in evidence here.
The pages of the “Livre de divers dessins d’ornements” by Thomas Laîné (Paris, Bibliothèque de l’Institut National d’Histoire de l’Art, collections Jacques Doucet, cote NUM FOL RES 56) show projects for trumeaux, facades or decoration details which are very similar to those presented in the woodwork of the cabinet.
