After a first visit to Japan in the early 1940s, Charlotte Perriand returned there between 1953 and 1954. This experience, which was paramount to her work, enriched her creations. Designed in Japan in 1954 for the exhibition “Synthèse des Arts”, these light and stackable chairs evoke the Japanese tradition of origami. Like a sheet of paper, they take on forms to suit subtle folding due to the curved plywood.
