A pupil of the Ecole Boulle, Gilbert Poillerat acquired great skill with metal from works with a decorative repertoire inspired by the Baroque world. He created this table for the inaugural exhibition of the Société des Décorateurs français at the Pavillon de Marsan in 1943, which gave pride of place to decorators and craftsmen. The table triumphed with a base in wrought iron decorated with a hunting theme and revealed exceptional skill and ornamental daring.
