Jean Gourdin, known as Père Gourdin (d. 1764), master in 1714, Armchair, Paris, c. 1750-1755

This armchair with its pure and slender lines is a masterpiece of carpentry. A sinuous molding adds further refinement to the sections of the apron and the curved legs, highlighted at the front by discreet Rococo ornamentation.
