Hlubucek is one of the young representatives of the Czechoslovak lineage of creators of objects and sculptures made from massive moulded glass. His experimentation relies on the delicate working of cold polishing allowing variations of surfaces between matt, satin and brilliant to be created, offering visual variety. The title “lavabo” places the ritual and architectural connotations of the formal experimentation of this artist, simultaneously subdued, imposing and symbolically intriguing.
