A sculptor by training, Hannes Van severen, a son of Maarten Van severen, formed a partnership with the photographer Fien muller in 2011. This duo, simply called muller van severen, has since then created multipurpose furniture that use references from art.
The installation S forms a composite piece of furniture with multiple functionalities: chair, storage cabinet, desk and lamp. Its very graphic design evokes the orthogonal lines and the coloured surfaces of Mondrian or Theo van Doesburg.
