The door panels originally had a sky blue ground, which has turned green with time. Each panel is decorated with an oval medallion, painted in monochrome. One depicts Ceres or Summer; the other, Flora or Spring. This decoration is typical of the way in which the Parisian lacquer (“vernis parisien”) technique was adapted to the neoclassical taste.
