This large decorative cycle is composed of seven paintings and three overdoor panels. It illustrates the progress of the love affair between a shepherd and shepherdess, with the complicity of a dog and a dove. Jean-Baptiste Huet was one of the great animal painters of the eighteenth century; the circular drawing room at the junction of the two wings of the Hôtel Camondo was called the “Salon des Huet” in his honor.
