This writing table – a rare example of a functional furniture item from the Ancien Régime – is characteristic of the understated, elegant style developed by Jean-Henri Riesener from 1780 onward. It stands on four tapered legs and has three drawers in the apron with trefoil-shaped keyholes – signs of high quality furniture.
