After a first trip in the early 1940s, Charlotte Perriand returned to Japan between 1953 and 1954. Her experiences in Japan had an essential influence on her work. Designed in Japan in 1954 for the exhibition “Synthèse des Arts”, these light and stackable chairs evoke the Japanese tradition of origami. Like a sheet of paper, they take on shapes adapting to subtle bends due to the curved plywood.
