A major figure of the inter-war period, Charlotte Perriand is one of the few women to have worked alongside Le Corbusier and to have been able to impose her resolutely modern style during the 1950s. A later work, this sideboard was designed especially for Maurice Jardot, the director of the Galerie Louise Leiris. Its minimalist lines and formal simplicity were requested by him to accompany his collection of paintings by Picasso, Léger and Masson.
