An architecture graduate of the University of Cambridge and an art graduate of the Royal College of Art, Nicholas Rena seeks his forms as a designer would do, by making plaster prototypes, in which he stamps white clay until he obtains the massive thickness of the volume. Colour is only added after firing, because he uses printing inks, and controls their spread on the surface with a sponge.
