Georges de Feure was a Symbolist painter, illustrator, writer, ceramicist, glass artist and designer of furniture.

This display case is in the same aesthetic as the furniture shown at the Bing pavilion at the 1900 Universal Exposition. Its delicacy echoes De Feure’s love of feminine grace. He uses the ornamental repertoire of stylised flowers characteristic of Art Nouveau. The gilt wood and lightness of the object echoes 18th century furniture.
