Made during the confinement, Tumulys was conceived with the Manufacture Pansu for the exhibition « Passé-Présent : Mémoire Industrielle » presented during the fall 2020 at the Fresnoy in Tourcoing. The project is anchored in the industrial memory present within the landscapes of Hauts-de-France, often punctuated by slagheaps. By appropriating off-cuts of materials scavenged from the textile industry, Elise Fouin marries this territorial history with her work as a designer. Through these found elements, the edges of which, composed of multicolored threads, she rolls and unrolls, the artist explores new abstract motifs inspired by the unique forms of the slagheaps.
