“I was fortunate to spend the confinement in the countryside, in Brittany, where I was able to observe the springtime progression of nature as if in slow motion. Each day a slow blooming, invasion, transformation. Nature flourishing, like a chrysalis. So, I chose not to resist this constraint of enclosure, and to formally “unwind” on my canvas, the technique and the subject becoming one, to represent what was going to emerge from the cocoon in which we all found ourselves : a butterfly. A promise to imagine oneself differently, to become one with nature, to flutter around for a moment before the inevitable death of our species.”
